Julian's first birthday come and gone

Julian turned one, two months ago.  His one year old stats, 29 inches tall and 20 pounds, put him on the small end of the percentile spread, but as a friend of mine joked, those percentiles are skewed by babies in Louisiana drinking grape soda (sorry for the stereotyping).  We celebrated his birthday at the Kelly Family Reunion.

Here are some more pictures from his birthday week.

Julian Loves to play with balls, and run, and dance especially twirling, which he does with one arm raised across his face.  He has been eyeing his sister's bike and has tried to throw a leg over more than once.  He has figured out how to use a spoon:

And he's figured out what to do with a basketball hoop

I was trying to take some pictures of Julian recently to document his growth.  Every time I picked up the camera he ran straight for me, he thought it was a really fun game and it made for some cute pictures.

Here he is coaxing a couple more teeth to the surface, he just got his seventh and his eighth is on the way.

Busy busy

The days fly by running after two little ones, sometimes I feel so busy doing not much of anything, but looking through some pictures from the past month shows a different story.

We have a picnic everyday

We've had more moose in the hood, a mama and very young baby

Audrey had her first visit to the dentist and the hairdresser.

Here Audrey is sporting one of the many goodies from the dentist.

And here she is sporting her new haircut.

A couple of old friends of Chris's came to visit for a fun-filled weekend.

There has been a lot of soccer to watch!!

And we have been watching Julian get the hang of standing without hanging on, as well as moving around on his feet while hanging on to whatever he can get his hands on.

Oh yeah and we took a trip to Palisade and went to one day of a music festival, but no pictures were taken of our festivarian crew because Julian and I broke the iPhone during the drive there.

Remembering Party

We went to Denver last weekend for a memorial for Gampy, Chris's stepdad, John. It was a lovely celebration of life and a great weekend full of time with family.

Lisa organized a slideshow of pictures of John, which the viewers thoroughly enjoyed.

John's brother Charlie shared some memories of John and the ended with a modified version of this poem while a rainbow formed in the sky.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
