Summer shots

Some days are too hot for clothes.

Flat water rafting on the Yampa

McKinley came over to play.

Our backyard kiddie picnic spot.

Audrey's banana binge. I turned my back for 5 minutes and she rips into and devours a banana and a half.

Busy Nesters

I don't think it really qualifies as nesting but we've been busy here at the house spending every weekend and free moment outside doing yard/house projects. We've got to log the work now because we won't be doing much but changing diapers and feeding babies in a few weeks. We realized we've got a little theme going with the major project being done about a month before our babies come. Audrey was born to a newly installed doorand view, now the next baby will have a new patio.
We have been lucky enough to have some great help from friends as this patio has come together. Audrey has kept a close eye on the progress as well.

Phew it was a lot of work.

Here's to eating out on the new patio.

We've kept up with other day to day yard work as well, like watering and weeding.

And we built a giant baby gate to replace the half ton gate that had been falling off its hinges and permanently propped open for the past two years.

Audrey's iPad exploration and other ingenious exploits

Audrey has discovered how much fun she can have on the iPad as well as how to navigate the device. I just deleted about 50 pictures of the ceiling but she can also find her way to Elmo books or Yo Gabba Gabba videos, she even skyped grandma and grandpa last week!
Here are a couple of her interpretive self portraits

She is getting more and more clever every day. Sometimes we need to outsmart her, she recently figured out how to get into the cupboard where we keep the snacks, so we are looking for a new way to baby proof that one. Sometimes it's fun to let her go with her little projects and see what comes of it, here's what happened when she got a hold of some diapers

(Note: none of the photographs above were staged by adults in anyway)

She also knows how to blow bubbles and eat dirt

And draw with sidewalk chalk

Florida

We took a trip to South Walton County, Florida and enjoyed some great beach time.  Audrey was pretty scared of the ocean at first so she soothed herself by eating sand. On the last afternoon we were there we went down to the beach for one last look and suddenly A couldn't get enough of being in the water. We rented bikes instead of a car and took some nice trips to nearby towns and state parks and grocery stores.

Heading down the board walk steps to the beach

Audrey munching on sand, note she didn't get it all in her mouth

Out for a hike in the woods

She was perfectly content to be carried this way

Swimming in the nice safe dune lake just off the ocean

"mama is swimming, maybe I should too..."

Stuffed animals and silliness

A new game: sit in the laundry hamper with your toys.

This pink bunny is Audrey's recent favorite.

Its easy to get in the basket and much, much harder to get out...

...so might as well get comfortable.
